SURG-1410 Surgical Technology IV 4 SURG-1410 Surgical Technology IV 4 Students will continue to learn instrumentation & equipment used in Cardiac & Pulmonary Surgery. They will learn the difference in the physiology of the Pediatric patient. They will also be able to identify & select proper instrumentation and equipment for Neurological procedures. They will do Laboratory and some practicum to compliment this course. This didactic course provides a continued in-depth study of advanced surgical procedures, instrumentation, and equipment used in cardiac, pulmonary, and neurological surgeries. Students will refine their ability to identify and select the appropriate instruments and technology necessary for these complex procedures. Emphasis will also be placed on the physiological differences in pediatric patients and the unique considerations required when performing surgery on this patient population. Students will develop a deeper understanding of specialized surgical techniques, patient care strategies, and operative protocols in high-risk surgical environments. Through hands-on Laboratory sessions and practicum experiences, students will continue honing their clinical skills, ensuring proficiency in advanced instrument handling, case preparation, and procedural execution. This course serves as the final didactic component of the program, integrating knowledge and skills in preparation for clinical rotations and professional practice in the surgical setting.
