SOCI1020 — Social Identities in Everyday Life
This course examines how social identities are formed and expressed in everyday life. Taking a personal and interpersonal lens, students explore how families, peer groups, institutions, and media shape assumptions, interaction patterns, and the opportunities or obstacles people encounter. Topics include the social construction of roles and statuses, norms and deviance, communication across groups, and how organizational practices influence life chances.
