Students will learn pre and post transfusion management and services associated with antigen and antibody reactions. Related theories behind blood banking, donor and transfusion services will be discussed. Knowledge with immunohematology procedures such as ABO typing, Rh typing, identification of blood factors, antibody screens, compatibility testing, transfusion of blood and blood components, collection and storage of donor blood and quality assurance will be emphasized.
