MLT 255S - Practical Clinical Hematology Add to Catalog Bookmarks MLT 255S - Practical Clinical Hematology 4 Credit Hours A full-time internship to be completed at an affiliated local or out of town hospital or clinic. Students will broaden and perfect their laboratory skills through active hands-on participation in the Hematology Department of the laboratory. Emphasis of this course is placed on the clinical skills to perform Hematology testing. Students will perform phlebotomy in all stages of life, process kit testing, perform manual and automatic leukocyte and erythrocyte blood counts, manual sed rate counts and manual slide differentials. Written reports, case studies, review of current professional literature and attendance of conferences are required. As part of this course, students will be required to return to Southeast Tech campus the week of winter graduation. Students will participate in review of program course content, clinical findings and expectations, and registry preparation testing and activities.
