BIOM 170 — Invertebrate Zoology with Lab

This course examines the invertebrate phyla, covering aspects of form and function, evolution, classification, natural history, and water -land transitions of invertebrate animals. Students will explore local marine habitats to collect live specimens and observe ecological interactions in the field. Laboratory work will encompass dissection and identification of common invertebrates, using both classical taxonomic methods and DNA bar coding. Prerequisite(s): BIOL-100 or BIOL-124 Corequisite(s): none
