CONS 115 — Practical Building Concepts and Leveling
3 cr. This course is an introduction to basic hand drafting of building components and the proper setup and use of levels, transits, and lasers commonly used within the industry. Students will be introduced to reading basic house plans and drafting details from given criteria using a scale ruler. Leveling will include the proper use of a builder's level, water level, laser level, and transit. The course includes a variety of activities involving the use of these instruments. This course introduces floor framing practices commonly found in the residential construction industry today. Topics of discussion w ill include safe use of hand, power, and air tools, the correct lay out, cutting, building, and esti mating of a simple floor system.
