EDUC 105 — Introduction to American Education

This course will introduce students to the major issues and challenges surrounding education and schooling in the United States. Students will study the purposes of schooling, the trends in education, and strategies that have been used to address emerging problems/needs. The course will also cover role and impact of communities, educational bureaucracies, government (local, state, and federal), and other factors on education and education systems. Prerequisite(s): ENGL-080 or ENGL-101, or appropriate placement Corequisite(s): none
