ENGL 255 — World Literature I

This course introduces students to litera ry works of enduring significance from the Ancient Period through the Middle Ages. Students will examine the first flowering of written literature in Mesopotamia and the Mediterranean basin, be introduced to sacred writings from east and west, and track t he development of literary genres with a focus on innovative and influential writings from around the world. Prerequisite(s): ENGL-100 or ENGL-101 Corequisite(s): ENGL-115
