FIRE 102 — Fire Academy Part I
This course provides an occupational foundation for fire suppression in municipal and industrial settings by focusing on the art and science of controlling and extinguishing fires. The course is based on the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1001 Firefighter Professional Qualifications Standard, Firefighter Levels I and II and Maine Bureau of Labor Standards. Students will be held accountable and must complete pre-class and post -class assignments on time and operate as part of a firefighting team. Successful students will work towards an opportunity to earn Maine Structural Firefighter qualification and test for state (MFSI) and national (Pro Board) Firefighter I & II certification. Prerequisite(s): NFPA 1582 c ompliant medical evaluation and Maine Bureau of Labor Standards respiratory protection requirements. Corequisite(s): none
