FIRE 120 — Fire Behavior and Combustion

Effective fire cont rol and extinguishment requires a basic understanding of the chemical and physical nature of fire. This includes information describing sources of heat energy, composition, and characteristics of fuels and the environmental conditions necessary to sustain the combustion process. This course will provide an opportunity to inquire, explore, understand, apply, and reflect on theories and concepts associated with how and why fires start, spread, and are controlled, in hopes of helping to develop highly compet ent fire service professionals. Prerequisite(s): MATH-130 or MATH-140 Corequsite(s): none
