This course examines the history of the United States since World War II, with special fo cus on the social, cultural, political and foreign policy history that has defined the modern American experience. To examine this history, this course will explore a broad range of topics, from Cold War diplomacy through the nation's current conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan, from the evolution of major New Left Social movements to the impact of technology, immigration, and party politics in contemporary America. Devoting particular attention to primary source documents and historical artifacts, including popular music and television programs, this course endeavors to understand the roots of the modern United States. Prerequisite(s): ENGL-080 or ENGL-101 or appropriate placement Corequisite(s): none
