HLTH 130 — Gerontology for Health Professions

This course introduces the student to the field and study of gerontology and will provide a broad overview of the impacts of an aging population on the US h ealthcare system. Students will review current subjects pertinent to healthcare provision of the older adult, including health, wellness and illness measures; stereotypes and ageism; public policy; caregiving issues; and death and dying. A strong focus wil l be on the issues as they exist in the state of Maine. Prerequisites: ENGL-100 or ENGL-101, Corequitie(s): none
