IDST 140 — America's Working Women

This course is designed to i ntroduce students to new scholarship on women and work . It covers the evolution of the household economy as well as the role of women in the paid labor force. Recognizing that work considerations have had a powerful influence on family life and economic st atus, this course will allow students to place their lives in a larger historical context, enabling them to comprehend the experiences and problems of women and men as gender and work took on new shape and meaning in modern times. The course is writing intensive. Prerequisite(s): ENGL-100 or ENGL-101 Corequisite(s): none
