NUTR 275 — Community Field Experience

The Community Field Experience is conducted in a combination of outpatient ba sed nutrition program settings and long -term care settings. This course is a hands-on practicum that emphasizes the implementation of nutritional care in community and long-term care settings. Students will participate in two different community based nutr ition programs selected from the WIC program, the National School Nutrition program, the Area Agency on Aging Senior Nutrition program, the Cooperative Extension, and the Portland based Project on Supported Living. Additionally, students will complete a ro tation at a long-term care setting, focusing on the delivery of nutrition care and the administrative functions of a food service department. A minimum of 180 contact hours is required for completion of this rotation. Prerequisite(s): NUTR-210 Corequisite(s): none Oceanography and Marine Science Courses (OCEA)
