RADG 100 — Radiography Patient Care and Radiation

3 credits · 3 hours

Protection 3 cr. This course is designed to introduce the student to the fundamental concepts of patient care, including radiation protection and considerations of patient physical and psychosocial conditions. Routine and emergency patient care procedures will be described as well as aspects of patient assessment and assistance, medical-surgical asepsis, infection control, patient communication and death and dying. Radiation protection will include types of interaction of radiation and matter, as well as radiation safety and protective measures for the patient as well as personnel. (N ote: The role of the radiographer in patient education, communication skills, ethical and legal issues will be covered in Introduction to Clinical Practicum I.)
