EM 116 - Pre-Hospital Pharmacology II EM 116 - Pre-Hospital Pharmacology II 3 Credit Hours Lecture Hrs. 3 This course will focus on the skill necessary for safe and therapeutic drug therapy for Paramedic level providers. Emphasis is placed on drug identification and classification, pharmacological actions, side effects, appropriate dosing, drug interactions, guideline for use of drugs, safety alerts, and pre-hospital implications, medication administration, drug calculations, as well as the legal and ethical considerations of pharmacology. This course will also discuss pharmacokinetic principles as it relates to physiologic and pathophysiologic problems across the lifespan. There will be an additional focus on advanced cardiac life support and other emergency medications in this course. Advanced EMS Provider Skills labs and Clinical II will run concurrently with this course. Proficiency skills will be assessed accordingly and recorded in the student’s Master Portfolio.
