This course provides the teacher-candidate with the tools, skills, strategies, and practices to meet the needs of diverse learners in classroom content areas and to enhance reading skill development. This course emphasizes understanding reading deficits and levels, how students acquire reading competency, the impact of behavior and classroom culture, and how they contribute to a student’s ability to succeed in kindergarten through grade 12.
