HIT 161 — Micro computer Applications in HIT
This course will provide an overview of basic information technology concepts and its application to health care and associated delivery systems, the electronic health record or computerized medical record and the health information management department. The software laboratory assignments will focus on computer techniques in spreadsheet design, database management, work processing/transcription, and other health care applications. T opics include spreadsheet design, word processing/transcription, data collection/analysis, archival systems, data sources/sets, quality and integrity of health care data including introduction to the chargemaster, reimbursement methodologies, etc. NOTE: This course requires access to a reliable internet connection to complete online assignments. Students must be competent computer and internet users.
Prerequisites: HIT 101, HIT 110, HIT 130
