MAT-101 - Math in a Modern Society MAT-101 - Math in a Modern Society 3 credits This course is designed primarily for General Studies and Liberal Arts Transfer students, and is intended to provide a background in the contemporary applications of mathematics to a wide variety of problems. The excitement of contemporary mathematical thinking will be shared with the non-specialist, to develop students’ capacity to engage in logical thinking and to read critically technical information, which is abundant in contemporary society. Students will use mathematical models for problem solving in three broad areas: The Digital Revolution ; Management Science ; and Your Money and Resources . Mass Transfer Gen Ed Foundation: Credits earned in this course are counted towards the Mass Transfer Gen Ed Foundation’s Mathematics/Quantitative Reasoning requirements.
