BIOS 215 - Fundamentals of Genetics BIOS 215 - Fundamentals of Genetics This course will introduce students to basic concepts in genetics. During lecture, students will learn about the general principles associated with heredity and genetic variability among organisms. Topics will range from classic and modern genetics to population genetics and human disease. The societal implications and ethical dilemmas of modern genetics will be discussed. During lab, students will be introduced to recombinant DNA technology and molecular biology methods employed in modern genetics research. Lab exercises and assignments are designed to teach students how to apply the scientific method to problem-solving in genetics. Working with model organisms, students will learn how to analyze experimental results in genetics and how to communicate their findings. Prerequisites: BIOS112 Biology II with grade of C or better Lab Fee Required
