PHOT 202 - Documentary Photography PHOT 202 - Documentary Photography This studio course will explore the vanguard of photography today; Documentary Photography. Considered by the art-world as “the new function” of photography, Documentary Photography is an application of direct and realistic work dedicated to the profound and sober chronicling of the external world. The course will investigate the history of documentary photography, including among many others, work by Lewis Hine, Paul Strand, and Charles Sheeler, and address the applications of documentary photography in the contemporary world. It will explore the theoretical questions; “photography: reality vs. the lie”, in a spirit of new realism and contemporary art and will require students to demonstrate the technical skills necessary to complete their own documentary projects in black and white film. Prerequisite: PHOT110 Lab Fee Required
