EDIE A658 — Indigenizing Teaching and Education System 3 Credits
Examines the relationships among policy, pedagogy, and practice in Western and Indigenous educational systems and views of citizenship. Identifies and compares community resources and holistic teaching from different worldviews applying local, national, and global perspectives. Examines pedagogical implications of cultural interfaces to shift towards cultural responsiveness and sustaining teaching practices and education systems. Emphasizes awareness of Otherized populations' practices, beliefs, values, and worldviews and the role these play in working for systemic change in local communities.
