Introduces the fundamentals of ice climbing in Alaska. Covers hazard evaluation and risk assessment, selection of personal gear, technical needs, and safety equipment. Introduces knots, rope handling, belay, basic descending techniques, and top-rope ice climbing. Special Note: Requires ability to function comfortably in extremely cold temperatures and inclement weather. May be repeated for credit.
