SWK A650 — Child Welfare Skills: Introduction to the Alaska Practice Model 3 Credits

Examines public child welfare practice using the Alaska Office of Children's Services practice model in the identification, assessment, promotion of family protective factors, and intervention with unsafe and at-risk children. Focuses on client-centered case planning, interventions with families, and interprofessional collaboration with community providers and organizations. Special Note: As undergraduate and graduate students receive the same two-week training, the differences in the courses are seen in the additional assignments for the graduate course, specifically requiring higher levels of content and information synthesis and deep rooting in expanded use and assessment of the evidence base informing effective practice.
