PHY 109 - General Physics I 4 cr. PHY 109 - General Physics I 4 cr. Classical mechanics with regard to motion, particle dynamics, Newton’s Laws, Conservation of Energy, Conservation of Momentum, equilibrium of rigid bodies, simple harmonic motion, gravitation, fluid mechanics, and wave motion is explored in this calculus‐based course. In the laboratory, students learn techniques for investigating physical phenomena and reporting with reasoned numerically‐based analysis. Computer and calculator skills are required. 3 hrs. lect.; 4 hrs. lab and recitation. Prerequisite: MAT 170 and High School Physics or PHY 101 Semester(s) pring
Prerequisites: MAT170, PHY101
