SGN 113 - Beginning Sign Language I 3 cr. SGN 113 - Beginning Sign Language I 3 cr. SGN113 is designed to teach American Sign Language communication skills at the basic/introductory level. It includes the manual alphabet, vocabulary and basic sentence structure used in ordinary life situations. Students learn both receptive and expressive American Sign Language skills. The students will gain experience in signing situations created by the instructor. This course is designed to teach confidence and fluency in signing by practicing simple dialogues, playing ASL centered reinforcement games, signing stories and practicing fingerspelling for fluence. The students will practice expressive and receptive skills in ASL throughout the class. This is all practiced in a small group setting. Semester(s) all, Spring
