Designed for the senior undergraduate and graduate audience, this course covers the basics of pyro, hydro, and electro-metallurgy. Relevant theories on thermodynamics and chemical kinetics are reviewed as a basis for a first description of industrial metals production. Thermodynamics and kinetics are presented with a focus on applications to industrial processes. Iron, copper, and aluminum production are used as examples of pyro, hydro, and electro-metallurgy. Students taking this course will have a good command of the terms and methods employed in metals extraction. pre-req: CHE 2121 and 3112 or instructor consent
