This clinical practicum is designed for students pursuing a career as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA). Under the supervision of American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA)-certified speech-language pathologists, students will gain hands-on experience in providing services to individuals with communication disorders and differences. Throughout the practicum, students will engage in tasks aligned with the SLPA scope of practice, such as assisting with the implementation of treatment plans, conducting screenings, and documenting clinical progress. These experiences are essential for developing practical skills to support licensed speech-language pathologists in various settings, including schools, clinics, and healthcare facilities. This course provides students with clock hours that count toward the requirements for SLPA certification, offering a critical step for those on the path to certification.
