SPAN4020 — Race, Migration, Lat Am/US

Taught in Spanish. A study of the representation of race and migration within Latin America and the United States. Students will carry out analysis of written and visual texts and other cultural products to discern the ways race has been constructed across time (pre-colonization to present) and space (the Americas and Spain). Students will learn about the origins of the Latine population living in the U.S. and explore the ways concepts of race impact the discourse and policies of migration. pre-req: SPAN 2301
