Theatre B.F.A.
The Department of Theatre, housed in the Marshall Performing Arts Center, has three objectives: to teach, produce, and sponsor theatre. The department provides academic and professional training in the arts of the theatre: acting, singing, directing, playwriting, critical evaluation, dance, scenic design, lighting design, sound, costume design, properties, stage management, theatre history and theory, and theatre management, as well as a broad liberal arts study. The co-curricular producing arm of the department, UMD Theatre, provides practical experience for University students while enhancing the cultural life of the University and the communities it serves.
