Civil Engineering M.S.

The master of science (MS) in Civil Engineering is typically a two-year program that provides students with in-depth knowledge in a sub-discipline within Civil Engineering. Sub-disciplines are Structural Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Environmental and Water Resources Engineering. The "Plan A" option is intended for students working closely with a faculty member pursuing a research emphasis on a specific thesis topic. The "Plan B" option is more heavily focused on coursework with a final capstone-style project. Integrated Degree Program (IDP): UMD undergraduate students who are admitted into the IDP program can apply up to 9 credits
