GEOL2311 — Forensic Geology

Introduction to the application of geological concepts, principles, and research methods in the field of forensic studies. Includes analysis of rocks, minerals, soils, and microfossils; air photo and seismic interpretations; applications to gemology, art, and archaeology; and tracing of pollutants, among other topics. Students learn how interactions between people and the natural world or natural materials leave evidence of those interactions. Regular discussion periods focus on actual case histories and real-world scenarios.
