HIST1114 — Middle East and North Africa
This course surveys the political, economic, and social history of the Middle East and North Africa from 1798 to the present. It is structured temporally around the late Ottoman, colonial, and post-colonial periods. Topics include reform, colonialism, war, genocide, nationalism, decolonization, migration, and contemporary environmental issues. Through primary sources, academic literature, and interactive assignments, the course highlights the region's diversity and its role in shaping modern global history
