IS3264H — Hnrs: The Nature of Work
This course examines whether workism--the belief that work is the centerpiece of identity and life purpose--is a good thing by examining how work has been considered by thinkers across the centuries. Primary reading material and illustrations from Ancient Greece, the Bible, Da Vinci, Mill, and Marx will be used to highlight how work has been regarded historically to help us imagine a post Covid world where the significance of work is uncertain. prereq: participation in the Honors Program
