This course offers an interdisciplinary examination of the legacy and influence of F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby. Often referred to as the "great American novel," Gatsby has been made into movies and referenced in everything from Charles Schulz's Peanuts comic strip to Taylor Swift's lyrics. Students will read the novel and track its influence over the past century in an effort to understand America's continuing fascination with Fitzgerald's masterpiece. Students will also engage with the Minneapolis Institute of Art's Gatsby at 100 exhibit. prereq: Engl 1007, participation in the Honors Program or instr consent
