MATH1802 — Social Approach to Mathematics
Socialization among math enthusiasts is a core component of a math circle, which provides a format for students to explore exciting ideas that they are unlikely to encounter in the standard mathematical curriculum. Activities draw from a variety of topics in mathematics, such as combinatorial game theory and the Euler characteristic of a graph. Through discussion, readings, writing, and a final project, students will experience the social aspects of mathematics. prereq: new college students in their first semester of enrollment at UMM.
