PHYS1006 — Observatory I

Engagement in campus and community outreach using the University of Minnesota Morris Astronomical Observatory. Course builds skills in basic telescope operation, astronomical sky watching, design and guidance of scientific outreach to campus and community. Students will participate in Open Nights and other outreach events at the observatory. Meeting times may vary due to variable observing conditions. A minimum in-person participation of one hour per week is expected, typically in the evening, with an additional 30 hours of student workload throughout the semester.
