SPAN3013 — Spanish for Heritage Speakers

This course is for students who grew up in Spanish-speaking households but were educated primarily at English-medium institutions ("heritage speakers"). The class will focus on strengthening and expanding students' already-existing Spanish skills; enhancing their understanding and appreciation of Latinx, Latin American, and Iberian cultural practices and sociopolitical realities; examining and recognizing dialectal, social, and contextual variations in the language; improving strategic speaking, reading, and writing skills; and inductively mastering points of particular concern to bilingual and heritage Spanish speakers. prereq: instructor consent
