CDL 043 — Commercial Driver Training on Road Skills

This course is designed to prepare students to be high-quality, professional commercial drivers. Students successfully completing this course will have the opportunity to prepare for the Class A range and on-the-road operations section of the California CMV License test. Students will practice moving forward, straight line backing, parallel parking, offset backing, and other operations typical of a commercial driver. Students will also demonstrate proficiency by performing pre-trip inspections and the required air brake system test. Students must have a California Class A Commercial Learner's Permit (CLP), entry into the VVC drug testing consortium (including DOT drug test) and a FMCSA medical certificate prior to starting this class. Noncourse requirements are as follows: Motor Vehicle Record: (Driving History) Not Less Than 3 Years and Language Proficiency: Demonstrate ability to read, write, and speak English sufficiently to understand highway traffic signs and respond to official inquiries . and Age: Be at least 18 years old for intrastate driving or 21 years old for interstate driving. and Valid California Class C Driver's License: Hold a valid, non-commercial driver's license from their state of residence. and Valid California Class A Commercial Learner's Permit (CLP) and Valid Medical Examiner's Certificate (MEC) Form MCSA-5876 and Drug and Alcohol Screening: Enroll in and maintain participation in the VVC DOT drug test consortium.
