3 Credits General causes of pollution, including philosophical, historical, cultural, economic, and sociological reasons for levels of pollution in the world today. Sources as well as environmental and human health impacts of water, land, and air pollution are studied in detail. Emphasis is on pollution in chemical, physical, and biological terms. The roles of regulatory law, technology, population dynamics, consumerism, and cultural attitudes in pollution generation and mitigation are investigated for each form of pollution.
