PHIL161H — Seminar in Ethics - Honors

3 Credits In the first half of this seminar, we critically assess moral theories such as utilitarianism, deontology, virtue ethics, natural law theory, social contract theory, egoism, and relativism. In the second half we apply these theories to a variety of moral issues including abortion, euthanasia, sexual morality, capital punishment, cloning, war, and a set of global issues. All these topics will be studied with the of both classic and contemporary readings. Prerequisites: ENG 101 - Writing and Research and permission of the Honors Director
