SOC102 — Sociology of Families
3 Credits This course approaches the family as a social institution, examining the ways social structures and other institutions contribute to the organization and functioning of families in a changing society. These factors include the economic, political, religious, racial, and gendered, among others. The sociological imagination will be employed to explore diverse compositions, definitions and experiences of families. Notes: Prior to Fall 2023, this course was titled: Marriage and the Family
