3 Credits Personal Finance provides a solid presentation of the concepts and principles necessary to successfully manage finances and avoid common pitfalls. Topics include: budgeting, time value of money, tax strategies, consumer credit, identity theft, savings and brokerage accounts, insurance, home buying and selling, stocks, bonds, mutual funds, retirement planning and estate planning. This is a practical course designed to familiarize the student with personal financial issues. Notes: For elective credit only. This course cannot be used to satisfy Behavioral Science core requirements.
