MEDT - 1010 Fundamentals of Phlebotomy MEDT - 1010 Fundamentals of Phlebotomy Emphasis is placed on infection prevention, universal precautions, proper patient identification, specimen processing, patient complications, arterial draw, unusual tests, non-blood specimens, quality assurance, and legal issues. MLT students who possess an active Phlebotomy Technician, PBT (ASCP) certificate through the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP-BOC) may waive this course. Laboratory is concurrent with lecture. Lecture Classroom Hours: 45
