CMST 275 - Communication and Civic Dialogue CMST 275 - Communication and Civic Dialogue (3 credits) Meets GOAL 1 and GOAL 9. This course provides students the opportunity to develop skills related to communication and citizenship. Students will learn to conceptualize the formation of public attitudes through information access, different frameworks for communication ethics, patterns of reasoning, and power relations between people and institutions, as each relates to relevant civic issues. Students will learn and enact techniques that enable perspective-sharing, conversation, and constructive disagreement, including story circles, active listening, deliberation, and small-group facilitation.
