EEOL 305 - Development Observation: Children in Context EEOL 305 - Development Observation: Children in Context (1 credit) This course explores the critical shift from a deficit-based to an asset-based mindset in education. We will examine how students bring a wealth of resources to the learning environment, including their individual experiences, abilities, talents, prior learning, social and peer interactions, language, culture, family, community values, and student development. Students will learn to recognize and leverage these assets to create inclusive and equitable learning experiences for all students. Field Experience: In addition to the regular course work, students will complete five hours of practicum experiences with an elementary student is required. If one field experience is missed, the student must provide documented reasoning demonstrating the absence. If more than one field experience is missed, the student will fail the course. Missed field experiences cannot be made up. Insurance and background check required. Grade only. annually (usually fall semester). Course Registration
