FILM 270 - Topics in Film Studies FILM 270 - Topics in Film Studies (3 credits) Meets GOAL 6 (Humanities). This lower-division course introduces students to selected topics in Film Studies, focusing on the analysis of film as an art form, cultural product, and mode of communication. Topics vary by semester and may include studies of specific film movements, periods, national cinemas, studies of diverse film industries, or thematic concerns such as identity, politics, or technology in film. Emphasis is placed on developing visual literacy, critical thinking and analysis, and an understanding of film’s historical, cultural, and social contexts. No prior experience in film analysis is required. Grade only. annually or when demand warrants. May be repeated for credit up to three times when taken with different topics. Course Registration
