HIST 341 - Modern Japan HIST 341 - Modern Japan (3 credits) The course traces and analyzes the principal developments that shaped modern Japan. Beginning with examination of 17th- and 18th-century Tokugawa culture and institutions, the course will then explore the sources and consequences of the revolution Meiji “Restoration.” The course will then consider Japan’s march toward the Pacific War, and the post-World War II revival.
