MGMT 415 - Theories of Management MGMT 415 - Theories of Management (3 credits) An integral part of effective management involves understanding and critically examining the goals, strategies, structure, technology, and external environment of organizations. In addition, a manager also needs to be cognizant of the various processes that occur within organizations, such as conflict, politics, change, information flow and control, and organizational culture. Such an understanding of the structural design and functioning of organizations is essential to improving and maintaining them. This course provides this understanding by introducing current theories, alternative perspectives, and approaches to the management and design of organizations, and by assessing their relevance and usefulness.
