PESS 163 - Fundamentals of Aquatics PESS 163 - Fundamentals of Aquatics (3 credits) Teaching methods for swimming, diving, basic water safety, and program development; training includes knowledge and skills required of an American Red Cross certified lifeguard (if all skills met). First Aid, AED and CPR for the Professional Rescuer. Exploration of the 7 Dimensions of Wellness, and how physical activity within aquatics settings can enhance one’s holistic wellness will be a central focus of the course. Grade or P/NC. all and spring semesters. Note: Students must demonstrate proficiency in all requirements in order to obtain certification. These certifications include: CPR for Professional Rescuers & First Aid; Lifeguarding or Basic Water Rescue (dependent on skill-level and acquisition); Water Safety Instructor or Learn to Swim / Adult Swim (dependent on skill-level and acquisition).
